TWINS

I’M DIFFERENT

The twins Vanya and Vasya Yermakovs [6 years old, a left-hander and right-hander] are sharing their reflections on bicycles, girls, fears, male professions, and independent housing, on the eve of entering the high school

ABOUT IMPORTANT THINGS

Vania

It is important to learn Russian in order to know mathematics. It is important to learn English in order to learn Italian.

Vasya

It is important to know that a human like me (around 30-kilo weight) contains carbon enough to produce 1000 pencils

ABOUT GIRLS

Vania

It is important to change clothes regularly for girls, and they think that the head is mostly needed for braids.

Vasya

Girls – are wherever you look. It’s good, that at least there are no girls at all inside the computer games.

ABOUT BIKES

Vania

A decent bike is blue [or green, in case blue, is not available] with multiple speeds and thick tires. My dad has rearranged the bell for my left fingers.

Vasya

You wear special shorts, T-shirt with Batman, and listen to the wind in the air when you ride.

ABOUT FEAR

Vania

Men and boys fear more because they know more. We’re just pretending that we are not afraid. And women have only one fear that the child will fall, or the mouse will run. Oh, we got two fears!

Vasya

You know what? Black loud clouds at the summer house for 15 minutes in a row – this is very scary.

ABOUT DIFFERENCE

Vania

When we walked with mum and hold her hands from different sides, I walked to the left, and Vasya walked to the right, and then it seemed to me that her hands got a little longer. Can this happen?

Vasya

My brother is not so artistic like me, but, in general, he’s normal.

ABOUT HUTS

Vania

True hut – is the one that you built on the tree. There, none of the adults can ask: “Why is everything scattered around?”.

Vasya

No, huts on the ground – are not for girls. First of all, you bury the lower end of the tree branch, it makes the structure more stable from the very beginning, and secondly, it is more convenient to repair it.

ABOUT PROFESSION

Vania

It’s great to be a policeman because you always have the main thing in your hands – a passport. And a gun. But the passport is more important.

Vasya

It would be nice to become a musician, to perform in different halls, like my eldest brother Ilya.
